FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
I think I have a Gas Leak, what should I do?
Dont panic. Ring TRANSCO on 0800 111 999. If the problem
is external they will fix it. If it is diagnosed as an internal
fault call MS Services Limited on 01992 893706 for further advice.
What sort of boiler is right for me?
The combination boiler system is, by far, the simplest form of central
heating system available. A Combination boiler is two appliances
in one - a pressurised central heating boiler and an instantaneous
water heater.
Most types of boiler are also available as high efficiency or 'condensing'
boilers. There are high efficiency combination boilers, system boilers,
or conventional boilers. The term 'condensing' or high efficiency
applies to the technology which is used to maximise boiler efficiency
to use less fuel for more heat. Although condensation boilers require
a higher initial investment, they are very economical, and repay
the extra initial cost in fuel savings.
With a Conventional boiler, hot water cannot be provided
on demand but must be stored, usually in a copper cylinder (usually
located in an airing cupboard) and a cold water tank above it (usually
in the attic), as well as a smaller central heating header tank
(also usually in the attic).
What is bleeding?
From time to time, your central heating system may require bleeding
at various points around the home. Typical signs include a radiator
that is only partially hot (cold at the top). This is a simple procedure
whereby accululated trapped air is released from in the top of a
radiator via a small valve. It's easy to do yourself, but if you
feel you would prefer this done by a professional, please give MS Services Limited a call.
Why do systems need power flushing?
There are many thousands of ageing central heating systems with
circulation and boiler noise problems caused by accumulations of
sludge, corrosion deposits and scale, but traditional methods of
flushing just don't get rid of all the debris, and problems often
quickly return. Power Flushing is a chemically balanced procedure
which is guaranteed to improve the efficiency of your heating system.
